Cheshire Peaks Hiking & Camping

  • to

  • Needs a location

  • DATE: JUNE[masked]

By popular request, a revisit to a much-loved location. This will be another camping weekend including relaxation, walking, socializing, games, photography, pubs, entertainment, and visiting interesting places.... and on this occasion there will also be an emphasis on some full day hill walking.

We will aim to arrive around 11am on Friday, putting tents up and being ready for 12:30 to start enjoying our holiday weekend. Arriving later is not a problem if you can't get the day off.

    General Format

We always make a final choice of campsite shortly beforehand. Our venues are always in scenic settings (typically mountain, woodland, countryside, or coast) with at least one local pub! Likely price will be around £5 to £8 pppn.

If you don't have a tent or Airbed then just ask! Tents may be borrowed, or larger tents shared. We may also get together to share transport. The plan is to meet Friday at lunchtime (tents already up) and return on the final Afternoon of the weekend.

We aim to go camping a few times each year. All our campsites under consideration have proper bathroom facilities of course. Whether pets are allowed depends on the campsite.

Feel free to bring games, etc for some fun in the evenings

    Group experience, for Group activities.

We already have a specific campsite in mind on this occasion:-

Wild Boar Inn, Wincle, Cheshire Peak District, SK11 0QL

Cost per night £7 per person, £1 for Dogs, Adults Only site

Large campsite field with shower rooms, etc, accessible through the back of the pub, which is on the A54 between Macclesfield and Buxton. Pub does good food, good music, good ales from local micro brewery.

We will be walking each day from the campsite, as we are in easy reach of some of the most spectacular parts of the Peak District including Shining Tor, The Cheshire Matahorn, Pym Chair, Errwood Reservoir, Three Shires Head, the Macc Forest, etc

When we arrive on Friday morning, the pub will not be open, but we can make our way into the camping field, and pitch up. We can then pay in the evening. For anyone arriving mid afternoon, we will probably have headed off somewhere by then. We will be back at the site (or eating in the pub) early evening.

Some new routes of interest will be determined nearer the time, they will not disappoint. But information is not available at this stage.

Nearer the time, some form of payment will be required, probably covering the first night at the campsite, to ensure we have a known attendance number to book in, for reserving pitches.
