WALKING: Forest Walk + Pub Lunch + Trentham Park

Sunday 11th July, 10.15am

Hi all,

How about a nice midsummer walk through a forest, followed by sunday lunch and visit to Trentham Park?

See details below - Paul has organised this trip through his own group, so I thought it would be good to tag along saying as we havent done a walk for a while. There are about a dozen coming from the other group.

Limited transportation may be available from Birmingham. I can collect 2-3 from Stafford train station en route.

Any queries, drop me a line!

Shaun (organiser)

From Paul...

Day Out With Nature in the Swynnerton Woodlands, starting with a 6 mile forest amble around an infrequently visited yet beaustiful area of Staffordhsire, followed by Sunday Lunch. Then comes the highlight of the day, a visit to Trentham Park to see colonies of Moroccan Barbary Macaque Apes in their adopted yet natural habitat, costing you approx ?5 and there is no time limit. You will walk right next to the apes without any barriers etc, though you are asked not to touch them. If there is time we may visit the Floral Italian Gardens, but more than likely we will simply finish with tea and cakes.

The location is 2 miles from M6 J15 (the Stoke turning) and practicalities dictate travelling by car. The proposed meeting point for car sharing is Sundial Road Shopping Centre car park, just off Queslett Road, Great Barr at 09:25. This is within a short distance of M6 J7. Alternatively you make your own way there, but be sure to take careful note of the directions.

From M6 J15, take the A519 South for 1 mile, and then turn right into Drayton Road. After 1 mile, a public car park is signposted on the left.
