Well the MilCoG has been pretty busy this last winter but things have slowed a little bit with the exceptional weather we’ve been having. Hope everyone is enjoying our early spring. If this is the year of the end of the world as we know it, then I feel fine about it.

I am sorry to say that Game-a-tons at the Game Garage will be a little sparse in the coming months. I’ve been dealing with a pretty terrible heath condition that  makes it tough to function normally, and the time I can function I need to work as much as I can and do things with the family. I’ve gotten a few volunteers to take over scheduling events and they should be on-line soon so I am hoping by stepping down we can get things back on track again with some more consistent event postings. I still hope to make it to some events on good days but until remission occurs I have no idea what I am up for and when and it changes frequently.

Event Submissions:

So a few changes coming up in concert with me stepping down regarding event submission. There will be a form that shows what info is needed to submit an event to be scheduled - this will make it a lot less work when scheduling requested events. To get an event scheduled you need to be a current supporter - that hasn’t been an issues so far and I don’t suspect it will be as those that participate on the level of hosting events are usually supporters. Events must maintain a high rating or risk being discontinued – MilCoG is for larger, and/or more organized, and/or exceptional gaming events – just meeting and playing games in someone’s home isn’t enough to get it listed as an official meetup. And last but not least the person hosting the event will be required to fill out the request details so people know what they are signing up for. Seems like a lot but it really isn’t anything that I wasn’t already doing for every single private request out there all by myself. If we share the load or at least input effort for our own events we can continue the quality that people expect from MilCoG. There are lots of other casual meetups out there and fake meetups which are just store fronts for businesses that would love to use any old event people want to throw together for them.

The form is under the Pages menu at the top of the page. The direct link is here. http://www.milcog.com/pages/Event_Submission_Form/

Events Recap:

March saw a Supporter Only Game-a-ton which received perfect reviews. The menu consisted of ribeye/round steak sandwiches along with the usual chips, dips, veggies, pizzas, popcorn, snacks, cookies, treats, candy, wine, beer and soda. We played a good amount of games; Rex, Pastiche, Lords of Waterdeep x2, Braggart, Zombie Dice, Oltre Mare x2, Power Grid First Sparks x2, Flashpoint x2, Cave Troll, $how Manager, RA, The Resistance, Manhattan Project, Cargo Noir, Merkator, Race for the Galaxy, 7 Wonders, Last Night on Earth, Cosmic Encounter, Tobago, Cash and Guns, Save Dr. Lucky, Richard III, Airlines, Europe, Lords of Vegas x2, and of course several rounds of Werewolf. Pics are here…http://www.milcog.com/photos/all_photos/?photoAlbumId=6907032

We also had http://www.milcog.com/photos/all_photos/?photoAlbumId=6907032a open game day at Game Universe, Steve hosted 2 Game-a-lots, and we’ve been lucky to have a steady gig on Sundays now with Heroquest and Conquest of the Empire.

February had a Gameapolooza at Tom and Dawn’s, the I Love You Man Game-a-ton at the Game Garage, and a Game-a-lot and of course January had MilCoG running board games at the very cool MidWinter Gaming Convention at the Hyatt downtown and we look forward to next year’s!

Upcoming Events:

Tomorrow there is a cool spring gaming event at Game Universe – there are only a couple spots left so sign up soon if you want to go! Sean should be posting the Wednesday Demos again soon and Tom has  a Tuesday / Thursday thing and the next one is a chance to learn Gloria Mundi, which I have heard is a hidden gem of a game. Our Sunday games continue with Conquest of the Empire.
