The East Side Tomato Romp! (Milwaukee's Caged Tomato Fight)

TOMATO ROMP
Saturday, September 13th 2014

Tickets now on sale!  http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/851800

$10 - Tomato Fight ONLY (includes a free goggles and a t-shirt)
$20 - Bloody Mary Challenge ONLY
$30 - Tomato Romp Package! (funny how math works, eh?)

If you select Will-Call, you must pick up your tickets (for the Fight) by 3 PM.

We did this event last year, and those who went said it was a gloriously messy, wonderful time.  The pictures proved it.  We were more tomato than human that day.  Imagine: You're in a parking-lot sized cage with hundreds of your new closest friends.  You're hurling tomatoes at them, because hey, why wouldn't you.  They're hurling tomatoes at you, because hey, you started it.  As you either cower in ketchup-covered defeat or stand tall in glorious victory, screaming "IT IS A FRUIT, NOT A VEGETABLE", you are having the best, messiest time of your life.  Except for that one time, but you swore never to speak of that again, so for all intents and purposes, this is it.  Afterwards (or is it before?), you have some of the best bloody mary's in the best bloody mary city in the United States.

The East Town association's website is still waiting to post registration details, but the event is confirmed for Saturday, September 13th, 2014.

Milwaukee's East Side neighborhood was the first in the nation to fashion a celebration of the tomato and tomato fight after La Tomatina Fight in Spain, and it is now replicated in cities across America.  This event celebrates the MIGHTY TOMATO with a Tomato Harvest at the East Side Green Market, Tomato Chomp tour of East Side food establishments, Bloody Mary Competition with a popular vote for ‘Best Bloody Mary’, Plein Air Tomato-style, a costumed march of Tomato Fighters and of course, the famous Tomato Fight. 6,000 pounds of rotten tomatoes are donated by Maglio & Company for the fight, with the fight proceeds donated towards organizations that fight hunger.  This year's registration details coming soon!

Here's the schedule and details that the Tomato Romp had last year:

You can get your tickets at the will-call booth at 1901 E. North Ave - near Beans & Barley.  The fight will be held at the parking lot near the intersection of Murray & Thomas.

Full schedule:

- Tomato Chomp Crawl 11 a.m- 6 p.m.

What did it cost last year?

    August 26, 2014

    • Jason

      Tickets now available!

      http://www.brownpaper...

The cost is $10 for the Tomato Fight, $20 for the Bloody Mary Challenge, or $30 for both. If you don't intend to drink the bloody mary's and you don't intend to do anything but watch the fight, then you don't have to buy a ticket -- you can watch and wander for free!

      Lol nice try

FAQ: You do not have to fight in the cage if you go. You could just do the bloody mary's and then watch along as the rest of us suckers get pummeled by squishy fruit. You may be asked to hose the rest of us off. :)
