Mindful Cyborgs is hosted by Chris Dancy, known as world's most connected man and Anthony M. Giovanniello, founder of Acupuncture Ambassadors.
Meditation Session Overview:
• 20 minutes sitting meditation.
• 10 minute welcome
• 20 minute Dharma talk, reading, technology exercise.
Note: We practice shamatha meditation, which stands for peaceful abiding. Our sessions are tech positive and you are encouraged to bring your cell phones, tablets, laptops, fitbits, and smart home appliances. We believe technology is a chance to practice. If meditation would be difficult with constant interruptions this may not be the group for you. If you think you can't focus, this is the right place for you.
Why Mindful Cyborg Meditation?
Mindful is defined as a state of conscious or being aware of something.
Cyborg is a defined as a human being with both organic and biomechatronic body parts.
A cyborg is not a robot, it is “an organism that has restored function or enhanced abilities due to the integration of some artificial component or technology that relies on some sort of feedback”
A person wearing eye glasses, a hearing aids or carrying a smart phone are examples of cyborgs.
Through the persistent connection with our friends, family, news cycles, smart homes and wearable sensors, our ability to live in a state of continuous partial awareness is evolving how we define our attention.
We are entering an era "connected consciousness".
If you are interested in meditation, technology, and kindness then you will be thrilled with this program. Our world is filled with technical distractions, emails, notifications, alerts, and information. Clear seeing tells us this will not change anytime soon. How do we be mindful in such a hyper-connected world? Can we learn to move through data and information to knowledge and wisdom? In Mindful Cyborg Meditation we will explore these questions. Each session will begin with group meditation, followed by a device contemplation topic or reading and discussion. Gadgets are welcome! Please feel free to bring any of your mobile devices.
