Fewston’s Past & Present: A Reservoir History Walk.
Length: 4 miles - Time: 2.5 hours - Difficulty: Moderate

***

Join us for a scenic circular walk exploring the landscapes and history around Fewston and its reservoirs. This walk follows established paths through the Washburn Valley, combining countryside views with the social and industrial history of the area.

***

The route is approximately 4 miles, and we will walk at a steady, comfortable pace. Along the way, there will be a short history talk to provide context for the route before we continue towards our destination at the Washburn Heritage Centre.

***

At the end of the walk, you’ll have time to explore the Centre at your own pace, enjoy coffee and cake, and read about the Fewston Assemblage through the displays and written interpretation. This important archaeological discovery offers insight into life, health and working conditions in the Washburn Valley during the late 19th century.

THE IMPORTANT BIT:
As daring adults, let’s embrace our adventurous spirits! Your safety and that of your fellow explorers are in your capable hands. When you RSVP for this trail, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times.

TIMINGS: We will set off at 10.30 am prompt. The walk is approximately 4 miles and will take around 2.5 hours, which includes a stop at the cafe on route.

CARPARK & TOILETS: You can park at the Swinsty Moor car park (LS21 2NP) at the southern end of the Fewston Reservoir Embankment, which is where we will meet. This car park has toilet facilities. If you can't see them, you're in the wrong car park.

PRE-APPROVED DOGS: We only allow calm, well-controlled dogs that are used to group walks and can remain on a lead at all times. All dogs need to be pre-approved by the hosts of the event - please do not bring a dog unless you have checked with us first.
-------------

This event is FREE. However, we will be collecting optional donations for Mind, the charity supported by our Adventure Group.

We look forward to seeing you at Fewston!
