Every MINY Toastmasters meeting begins with a welcome to our guests, a Word of the Day, and an impromptu speaking activity known as Table Topics. We then move on to prepared speeches from both new and experienced members, followed by speech and meeting evaluations, grammar reports, and timer reports. Finally, we gather feedback from guests and discuss upcoming meetups and events. Q: Am I required to speak at a club meeting? A: No. You are not obligated to speak when visiting a club. You may simply observe if you wish. Q: Do I need to bring anything to a club meeting? A: No. You are not required to bring anything to a meeting. Q: Is there a leader or instructor? A: There is no instructor in a Toastmasters meeting. The club will have elected club officers present and a Toastmaster who facilitates the meeting. Q: Can anyone become a member? A: As long as you are at least 18 years old, you can join Toastmasters. Q: How much does it cost to become a member? A: Members pay international dues of $45 USD every six months. (Some clubs may charge additional fees.) International dues are $33.75 USD every six months for clubs not in Toastmasters districts. All new members also pay a one-time $20 USD fee. Quick tips for beginners: • Ask for a mentor, an experienced Toastmaster to help you with meeting roles and speeches. • Use stories, examples, and anecdotes to craft a speech. • Don't overwhelm your audience with too much information. • Begin and end every speech strongly. • Practice speaking.
