 ar-old man from small town Massachusetts. He's been sent overseas on a tri
 cky mission. A wealthy woman back home wants him to bring back her son\, C
 had\, who's been living in Paris too long. The plan is simple: pull Chad a
 way from whatever woman is keeping him there\, and bring him home to the f
 amily business.\n\nExcept...\n\nWhen Strether finds Chad\, the young man s
 eems changed. He's confident\, charming\, somehow better than before. And 
 Paris starts to work its magic on Strether\, too. A trip meant to rescue s
 omeone else slowly turns into something he never expected: a man in his fi
 fties waking up and wondering if he's missed out on his own life. Around h
 im is a whole cast of characters\, and each one sees the situation -- and 
 Strether -- a little differently.\n\nJames thought this was his best novel
 . It is easier to read than The Wings of the Dove (we met on May 27th for 
 that one).\n\nIt turns on one line Strether says to a younger friend: **li
 ve all you can**. This isn't a book packed with action. It's about a man s
 lowly changing his mind about what matters. It asks big questions: What do
  we owe to duty\, and what do we owe to ourselves? Is it ever too late to 
 really wake up? What does it even mean to "live"?\n\nCome get a little los

 e on Blonde. Bob Dylan said he'd been chasing "that thin\, wild mercury so
 und"\, and with this album\, he finally caught it.\n\nReleased in 1966 as 
 one of rock's first double albums (!)\, this record finds Dylan at a creat
 ive peak. It's an album full of contradictions: playful and heartbroken\, 
 sprawling and intimate\, funny one moment and aching the next.\n\nFun Fact
 : The album cover is blurry because the photographer was shooting outside 
 in the winter and they were both shivering. Apparently there were plenty o
 f sharp images too\, but Dylan picked this one.\n\nWe'll chat about:\n\n*
