Thanks Steve;
I was glad to see you put the plug for Hemp at the end of your correspondence. My preference is a comprehensive approach that looks at legalization, control, and taxation and it’s Billion dollar plus per year benefit to the State, County, and City coffers. That doesn’t even begin to take in the economic potential for Hemp. We have a strong case and need a strong, bold, self assured effort to promote it. We are right and we must start projecting that image. It is wrong to use marijuana to undermine black families and other minority folks. It is wrong to put anyone in jail for the social use of the only Intoxicant known to be non lethal, known to reduce the over use of alcohol. It is wrong to deny our farmers and Americans the benefits of hemp that our founding fathers supported and promoted. We have the moral high ground, we have just to convince our opponents of that fact. We need a 1000 advocates across Minnesota in every legislators face, on his e-mail, on her phone promoting the greener healthier Minnesota with marijuana, one of the oldest wonder drugs.
We have slogans;
LET’S FREE HERB
WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE LETHAL TO BE LEGAL?
WE ARE FREE TO BE POISONED BY PROFITEERING ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO COMPANIES TO THE STATES GREAT BENEFIT, YET USE OF ONE OF THE WORLDS OLDEST AND SAFEST MEDICINES IS DEEMED ILLEGAL FOR OUR OWN PROTECTION. HOW MUCH COMMON SENSE DO WE SEE HERE?
We need bodies on the ground in every district delivering these messages and as many more versions as we can create. We need to create a presence like we have never had before here in Minnesota. We need community discussions well advertised at our community colleges and high schools, where we can get free or near free facility use. To do this we need moderators to keep the discussion flowing and collect the contact info of supporters (good place for petitions). We need to get on radio talk shows, PBS’s Almanac, newspapers, we need to say loudly, “hey everyone look at this great wrong being done in our name”. We have to say it with the emotion that says we believe it. It’s all a matter of attitude folks, do you have any?
Sincerely,
W. D. (Bill) Hamm
