Details

Join us for this Moderate hike in the Pecos Wilderness
Length: 4.4 miles ... Elevation gain: 1,100ft ... Route type: in and out... Pace: Relaxed ... Dogs: Yes
. We will carpool to Aspen Basin, and hike up the Winsor trail for about 1.7 miles, intel we come to an unmarked shortcut that heads off to the right. This trail will take us directly to Rio Nambe. The Shortcut trail follows the 10,500-foot contour around the mountain for a while, then climbs gently to 10,600 ft where it meets the Nnmbe lake trail. A short climb from the trail junction will take us to our destination at a beautiful meadow, where we will eat lunch and chill out before heading back the way we came.
Wear good hiking boots. Bring poles, hat, sunscreen, Rain coat, plenty of water and lunch. Friendly dogs on leash are welcome.
Check back the day of for any updates

For your information: this meadow is where the real climb to Nambe Lake starts. All Trails shows that the total elevation gain is 2,057 ft, the shortcut bypasses 360 ft of elevation gain leaving a total elevation gain of 1,697 ft.
