Millions of creative mobile applications have opened the door for existing patent holders to have a field day. Some call them patent trolls, others use less becoming language. Whatever you call them, it's rampant right now and several of our members have received notice recently that they are in violation of existing patents. However, the patents being cited are often very broad and their enforcement seems unrealistic in light of the fact that tens of thousands, if not more, mobile applications use processes that could be deemed in violation. This story is just hitting the mainstream media and it's going to get worse, before it gets better. The time is now to get caught up on what is happening.

This meetup will address critical issues that every mobile development shop needs to be aware of.

Why do you need to care? (Patent troll's impact on the mobile community) What do you do? (From day 1 to day 20, a insider's view) Patent infringement law suit 101 (process and cost) What can we all do? (Quick open ended question that leads to Q&A) This meetup will be led by Sze Wong, CEO and Founder of Zerion Software/iFormBuilder, and receiver of a recent patent infringement letter.

Panelists will include:

Rick Toering, Patent Attorney with Womble Carlyle Jim Quigley, CEO of Canvas Solutions, Inc. Jonathan Freeman, CEO of WidgetPress Frances Weber, EVP of Article One Partners David DiGiammarion, Director of Sales at Article One Partners Yermo Lamers, CEO of Mobile Dev Partners We also have a pre-recorded 10 minute interview with Florian Mueller who writes the Fosspatents blog.

Don't miss this highly important discussion.
