Barcelona Meetup

I'm looking to give one presentation on any topic you are interested around MongoDB and then I'm looking for a volunteer to give a talk about MongoDB usage, experience, experiments etc.

I've limited the attendance list unless we find a bigger space. This is to ensure you get in the door and actually can see the presentations. If someone has a bigger space that would be great.

For the migrations you might look at:
    http://openarkkit.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/openarkkit/doc/html/oak-online-alter-table.html

They have more utilities as well.

    Enjoy!

i use pomodoro tools, currently pomodairo (air/multiplatform) which works good for me in terms of focusing and also on keeping track of estimation+reality of features.

Someone mentioned yesterday a python tool for distributed live database migrations, do you have a link for that?

Interesting topics covered on this meeting. Maybe ecommerce example wasn't the best aproach to MongoDB

I use SelfControl http://visitsteve.com/made/selfcontrol/ - simple, but very efficient.

yes perfect, you can start the meeting, how much time would you need ? 20-25 minutes ?

    Hi Christian,
I'm just finishing my first project with MongoDB, CDR-Stats http://www.cdr-stats.org, we are about to release it this week.

It's an open source VoIP Analytic tool. It has been my first experience with MongoDB so I'm far from being mongo expert but could definitely introduce what we achieved with MongoDB and how we designed our application.

I'm looking for someone to give a short talk about their experience with mongodb. you don't need more than 20-25 minutes of content and can talk about anything around it.

    Hi Stefan,
My ideas for the talk should provide a view over those 2 subjects, migration of relational RDBM to mongo and real-world use case and why the change.

I'd also be interested, not to only know how to move from RDBMS to MongoDB, but also to see some real-world use cases, where it actually makes sense to use MongoDB, where to better stick to a relational database and where it doesn't really matter.

    That sounds perfect :)

    I Christian,
I'll see if it's possible to book a place were at Telefonica to host the meeting. I can also volunteer to give a talk on a previously requested topic: moving from a relational database system to mongodb. I can prep something up to show my experience.
