What we’re about
The Awesome Writers Accountability Club (formerly Monkeys With Typewriters) is a group of writers who work through the highs and lows of creative life by setting regular goals and working to meet them together. We get together and co-work on our projects. Each meeting at 7:30 we have a group check-in for everyone to follow up on previous goals and set new ones.
If you join us, be ready to write (bring your computer, notebook, or whatever you use to work on your project)! We schedule both virtual and in-person meetings. In person, we meet in a café location where food and beverages are available.
We're not just writers -- any creative endeavor you're working on is fine here. During regular meetups, you can write, draw, blog, design, code, or work on whatever other project you're up to. (Probably no singing and dancing though -- we're kind of quiet.) We strive to create a productive, friendly, inclusive, and fun space for everyone!
OUR MEETUP NAME: We're in the process of renaming the group from Monkeys With Typewriters to The Awesome Writers Accountability Club, so pardon our editing and continuity errors! Final draft coming soon.

Our meetup is a harassment-free place for everyone, regardless of gender/gender identity, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, technology choices, or genre preferences. We do not tolerate harassment of meetup participants in any form.
The purpose of our meetup is to create a positive and supportive environment for creatives. Disruption of this purpose may be grounds for disciplinary action including suspension from group meetings (in-person and online) and removal from online discussion and networking channels.

- SISTER GROUP -- Kittens with Typewriters meets during weekdays in Alexandria. Kittens is organized on Facebook. You can join here.
- WRITING CHALLENGES -- We often moderate a few "write sprints" during our meetups, where members can (optionally) compete to write the most words within 10 minutes! We also have lots of members who participate in rad stuff like National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), Camp NaNoWriMo, Script Frenzy, National Blog Posting Month, and Inktober. Drop in if you're involved or interested!
