Montana GIS and Geospatial Pages

This group was started to bring together geospatial (mapping) professionals and enthusiasts across Montana, including those working with location-based technologies like GIS, spatial analyses, and/or cartography.

Why should you attend our Meetups?

  • For Map Enthusiasts who have a general interest in maps and mapping technology, we can show you how to get started using location-based (GIS) technologies.
  • For Students who are interested in pursuing a career, we can provide you with real-world projects, ideas, training, and mentoring.
  • For Developers who want to add maps or spatial analysis to your applications or web pages, we can provide insight into geospatial technology and issues you may run into.
  • For GIS Professionals , you will finally have someone else to talk to that understands what you do! (See How do you explain what GIS is? for a good laugh)

If you want to learn more about the application of geospatial technology in our world, we encourage you to watch some excellent (short, ~2-5 minute) videos available through the Geospatial Revolution Project.

Do you or your family members still not understand what Geospatial technology really is and how it can be utilized? Read How to explain what GIS is for the 11 year old kid?
