Bleed For This

Starring Miles Teller (Whiplash), executive produced by some guy called Martin Scorsese and based on the life of boxer Vinny Pazienza, Bleed for This is one for the fans of a comeback movie.

The real Pazienza was gifted in the ring and had a great track record, being only the second boxer in history to win both the lightweight and junior middleweight world championships, despite being considered the underdog in the latter fight. Things were looking good until a car accident nearly cost him his life, with doctors saying he'd likely never walk again - and he'd certainly never fight. Given he was suffering a broken neck and forced to wear a medical 'halo' device for three months, everyone assumed his career was over.

This being a comeback movie, obviously, they were wrong. Operating entirely against medical advice Vinny continued to train and, thirteen months after the accident all but wrote him off, he was back in the ring.

Bleed for This tells this story.

Teller is supported by Katey Sagal, Aaron Eckhart and Ciaran Hinds.

You can book your ticket here.

Full details will be confirmed to those who have RSVP'd the night before the meet and we'll aim to go on for a drink after their movie.

In the cinema lobby, thought I'd commented about that. Sorry!

I've sent out the meet up details for tomorrow and hopefully they should be with you shortly. Please be advised that if you don't receive them (or join later) you're more than welcome but I won't have much opportunity to forward them to you tomorrow as I will be working. Therefore please let me know as soon as you can if they're not in your inbox and I'll try to get them to you by direct message early tomorrow. Failing that please do come along anyway - we'll be meeting up in the lobby before heading to the screen around 6.20 and we should be a big enough group that you can find us :)

Just a heads up on this event... my work rotations have been changed and I am now working on the day, which is fine but there's no way on earth I'll be out before 4pm, and it'll likely be a little later. As a result it's unlikely the showtime will be before 6ish, depending on who's showing it.

It's not just one for fans of boxing movies either. I don't generally like those, but I really enjoyed this.
