Film Discussion Lunch: The Japanese New Wave @ The Fat Cat

  • Fat Cat

  • Do you like talking movies?  Do you like eating lunch?  Why not combine the two as our gathering of film buffs leads to free flowing conversations on movies of any and every type.  For our film discussion lunches, we will be starting out with a designated topic decided at a previous lunch, whether a filmmaker, era, style, country or genre.

Fans of world cinema know the Japanese master directors who flourished in the 50’s, who we discussed in detail last year.  Less known are the rebels of the next generation of filmmakers.  Influenced by the French New Wave, this generation broke the rules of tradition and pushed the envelope in both style and content.  Many will find these films strange and disturbing.  A number of them have strong adult content, but if you’re curious about a creative, adventurous and different kind of film viewing experience, join us in January for the Japanese New Wave.
