Weekday Paddle Series - Kayak Twin Creek from Rt 123 to Martz-Paulin Road

Location visible to members

This is a beautiful creek that can only be paddled at certain times of the year. In the summer months, it is too shallow to navigate.

We will paddle 4.4 miles from Route 123 [TC 5.4] bridge near Germantown, Ohio to the take out at Carmody Park (Martz-Paulin Road) (Warren County Park District) [TC 1.0] at Carlisle, Ohio. There is not a livery for boat rental or a shuttle. You will need to own your own boat and be willing to shuttle with other kayakers on this meet up.

We will meet Route 123 [TC 5.4] bridge near Germantown, Ohio and prepare our boats for launch. Plan to arrive 15-20 minutes before. If you are running late, please call. I will provide my cell number once RSVP's close.

• Start
We will push off from the shoreline at 7 PM

• Finish
We should be out of the water 8:30 PM

• Duration
Expect to spend about 1.5 hours on the water

• Pace
We will take a leisurely paddle giving plenty of time for camera opportunities

• Distance
This paddle is 4.4 miles + or -

• Difficulty
This paddle is suitable for paddlers with moving water experience. You must be 18 years of age or older and sign the liability waiver. Its not a hard paddle, however their are obstacles to maneuver.

• What You See
Old railroad bridges, beautiful forests, wildlife, more

• Restrooms
None except at the boat take out area

• Food
Bring water and snacks. We may have dinner locally after the paddle for those interested.

A boat that tracks well would be ideal, but not necessary. There are some spots that you will need to get out of the boat and pull over the shallow spots. A bit flatter or non-ridged hull is better.

• What to Bring
PFD and all your summer-weather stuff...sun hat / water / sun screen / bug spray, lights, dry clothes, dry shoes, and safety equipment. Food and water. Bring a towel as to respect the vehicle owner in which you share a shuttle.

PLEASE NOTE: This is the first time I have attempted to paddle this waterway since the big storms we had this week and as such, there may be strainers, and obstacles that may require portage. With that said, if you are an adventurous type, have moving water kayak experience, and would like to visit this rarely paddled gem, read on...
