NOTE THE DATE CHANGE TO: Sun, Aug 25, 2019

Lets paddle the pristine waters of the Mad River near the origins. We will meet at Lippincott Road, West Liberty, it is mile marker 45.8 on Ohio River Trails map. The water at this location is crystal clear and ice cold. Depending on flow rates there is the potential that we might have to get out and drag the boat. We will meet promptly at 9:15 AM, unload boats and shuttle cars to the takeout at Route 55. Parking is limited, so arriving on time is crucial so that we can unload boats and start the shuttle in a timely manner. There is only parking on one side of the road, as Birchbark Livery uses the other side of the road to park and unload their trailers as this is their major put in site.

We will shuttle cars to Rt 55 take out, mile marker 36.2 for a total trip of 9.6 miles. We have to get out at Rt 36 for a low head dam, so that would be a great opportunity to get out and take a break. We will plan on having lunch around that time. The mad river through this area is pretty much completely tree covered so will be cooler than being exposed to the sun but still bring your insect repellent and sunscreen, snacks, water and cameras.

I will provide my cell phone number the night before, so if you are running late, you can give me a call.

We will push off from the shoreline no later than 10:30 AM.

Expect to spend about 5 +/- hours on the water
