Some Native American tribes called the August Moon the “Sturgeon Moon” because they knew that the sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most readily caught during this Full Moon. They also called August’s Moon the “Full Green Corn Moon.”
Enjoy a leisurely paddle on Caesar Creek as we enjoy the sunset and paddle under the bright full moon.
**** PFDs ****
PFDS are mandatory and must be worn for the duration of the paddle.
**** LIGHTING ****
You are required by state law to have a minimum of a white light on the rear of your kayak. You should also bring a headlamp for your safety and to help you move about in the dark.
We will meet promptly at 7:30 PM and unload boats at the ramp. We will paddle out into the lake toward the island check out what we can see until the sun sets. Then we will paddle around the island and enjoy a moonlit paddle and the night sounds.
START: Push off from the shoreline no later than 7:45 PM.
FINISH: We should be out of the water 10:00 PM + or -.
DURATION: 2.5 hours on the water.
DIFFICULTY: This paddle is suitable for paddlers with flat water experience. You must be 18 years of age or older and sign the liability waiver.
WHAT TO SEE: Birds, wildflowers, wildlife, sunset and moonrise.
RESTROOMS: There are restrooms at the boat ramp.
FOOD: Bring water and snacks.
EQUIPMENT: A boat that tracks well would be ideal, but not necessary. This is a flat water paddle and a recreational boat will do well.
WHAT TO BRING: PFD REQUIRED/ headlamp / hat / water / sunscreen / bug spray / dry clothes / dry shoes / dry bag / towel and safety equipment. Be prepared.

LIABILITY WAIVER REQUIRED
I will ask that you sign ACCIDENT WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY when you arrive for this event or you can update your profile to indicate your acceptance of the risk. I love you guys, but I love my family more. Additionally, I will ask that you provide emergency contact information that will be destroyed after the paddle.
This paddle will be cancelled in the event of inclement weather or unsuitable water conditions.

No guests on the sign up. Just ask your friends to sign up on Meet Up and RSVP to the paddle. In this, we ensure everyone has accepted the liability waiver. This protects everyone on the event.
