Grayson Lake Memorial Day Weekend kayak, camp and hike!
You’ve probably heard the stories about Grayson…
and they’re all true.
This place is beautiful and the waterfalls are spectacular.
But you have to get there at the right time of year
and May is waterfall season. Close to 100 waterfalls to see.
Come on down,
It’s always worth the trip!!
Rain and Waterfalls - This is really good for the waterfalls at Grayson. I'm hoping for quite a show.
Weather and Go / No Go - Since all of the camping reservations are locked in (on my credit card), this event goes on...rain or shine. And that means your camping commitment is also firm...show or no show. If it's gonna be wet, bring your rain gear. That just means the waterfalls will be even more spectacular...a show you wouldn't want to miss.
We will be camping at Grayson Lake State Park. Site #25,26 & 27
Tent Spacing - It's first come - first served. But, let's be courteous so that everyone is comfortable...especially for late comers who are working on Friday. *** Lots of trees for Hammocks!***
Where – The put in for Friday, Saturday & Sunday will be determined. Possible river paddles! Maybe a cave tour! Hiking!! Possibilities are endless!!
COST: $65 PP Tent, $95 for Camper. Currently I have 3 spots for campers. ** I have this posted on 2 other meet up sights. Spots will fill up fast. Space is limited. If you book your own camp site there is a $30 fee to attend.

What To Bring – PFD / sun hat / warm or cold weather clothing / water / sun screen / bug spray. Lunch will be on the water each day. We will find a beach/grassy area to get out! Cameras and musical instruments for fun filled evenings around the camp fire.
Camping gear and something to share at group meals. You Do not need to bring food to share every meal!! Bring your lunches and snacks.
Potluck – Dinners -We will do Themed meals closer to the date.
No Restrooms at boat ramps. Do it before you get there or get to know the chipmunks in the woods.
Experience – You will spend up to six hours on the water on both Saturday and Sunday but the paddling will be leisurely. Expect to cover about 10 miles each day so if this is within your capabilities, then you should be fine.
BOAT SIZE- As always, we recommend nothing less than 12 feet, we will launch and return to the same ramp, so a 10 footer is doable! you will have to work harder than me!
Firewood: Everyone can bring in firewood! I would suggest getting it before you get to camp as the campgrounds is pretty pricey and small bundles.
Liability Waiver – As always, by joining in this event you are acknowledging that you have read and agree to abide by Ohio Paddlers liability waiver. There be an emergency contact list sign up before each paddle. All attendees are responsible for their own safety not holding any responsibility to the trip organizer. Trip Organizer has the right to refuse or reject someone from their trip at anytime with no refunds.
Dogs - I love Dogs! Dogs are always welcome with respect to all others, specially during meals times and be on a 6ft leash.
