2009 Retreat - Practicing Compassion in the Face of Conflict and Confusion

We are preparing for our Annual Retreat which is being held at the Heartland Country Inn near Brenham. More information can be found on the registration form under the "Files" section of the Meetup site, or on our website:

Conflict and confusion are a part of our everyday lives. Sometimes it is obvious, like an argument with a loved one that leaves us tense and without energy. Sometimes it is more subtle, like the long, slow search and struggle for meaning and purpose amidst a busy and stressful lifestyle.

For either case, the practice of mindfulness and compassion, though often difficult, is transformative and rewarding.

At this retreat we will learn to carry the practice of mindfulness through each activity of each day. With this as a base, we will explore compassion: What is it made of? How can we strengthen it within ourselves? How do we allow it to guide us through difficult situations? We will learn to look deeply at ourselves and our loved ones, at our healthy relationships and at those that are failing and falling apart.

We will arrive at a peaceful and reverential understanding. When we create such a space, we will let go of our frustrations, anger and stories of suffering.

With the support of others at the retreat, our understanding and compassion will blossom and become a transformative force in our lives.
