It's been a long cold winter, and it's not over yet, but let's look hopefully forward to Spring. While it won't quite be Spring yet, the next MUGL is March 12 and the official start of Spring will follow close behind.

For the meeting in March, we have a couple of experts in Semantics who have built some big-deal, high-profile systems that integrate MarkLogic, triple stores and the attendant infrastructure. This should be very interesting in light of the recent release of MarkLogic 8, which includes significant upgrades to its semantics features.

Semantics, MarkLogic and Publishing - And Beyond

Introducing semantic technology into an organization is not a simple task. It's especially challenging in large, established organizations like publishers. Our presenters for this meeting are veteran semantics experts who will relate their experiences building high-profile systems at the BBC and the Financial Times.

The discussion will focus on the speakers' experiences developing semantic publishing systems for both organizations. This includes the system that successfully supported the BBC's 2012 Olympic site and the FT's world wide financial publishing operation. This presentation will be of particular interest to anyone looking to make use of the semantics features of MarkLogic 7 or 8. It will cover the basics of semantic publishing, how and where to start in your own organization, and the significant resultant business benefits.

Our speakers for this meeting, Charlie Ivie and Phil Coates, are founders of Semantic Integration (http://www.semanticintegration.co.uk), a consultancy that specializes in semantic technologies and solutions. Both have long experience both with semantics and with MarkLogic and have worked at the BBC, the FT and elsewhere.

This meeting is at our usual venue, the Theodore Bullfrog pub, near Charing Cross station. Also, as usual, there is free food and drink, a private bar upstairs and good company.

Please RSVP so that we can order the right amount of food. And pass the word to anyone who you think might be interested.

Show up around 6:30 for food, drink and mingling. We start about 7:00. We end when they close up and kick us out.

See you there.
