It's the third Thursday of the month and that can only mean one thing, it's time for us to gather at the MIA for another fun night of activities and exploration. This month's theme is "More Real, Part 1, next month is part 2. Sounds interesting, doesn't it? This is the opening party for the new ticketed show "More Real? Art in the Age of Truthiness." (http://www.artsmia.org/more-real) As always, we will gather in the upper lobby near the information desk, across from the gift shop by 5:45. Look for our sign. We'll take a look at the nights activities and decide what we want to do as a group. This may be a chance to see this exhibit free, during normal hours it will be a ticketed show. I expect there will be tours going on, but I am not able to arrange a tour just for us, so we will have to join one of the scheduled tours. At this point, I'm not sure how it will work, but I'll find out.

Keep in mind that Free Third Thursday's are pretty loose and people tend to go in different directions, which is fine. So if you want to hang with the group, or just with a few other people, great, if you want to take your time and look at Dutch paintings or Chinese artifacts, that's fine too. There is no right or wrong way to this evening. Some folks like to zip through the activities and others like to stay until they are closing for the evening. If you are attending for the first time, let the organizers know and we will make sure that you are not left to spend the night on your own. We want everyone to have a great time. Before we start the nights activities, we'll decide on a time and place to regroup. At that point, those interested may made decide to gather at a local restaurant, stay longer or just go home. The nice thing about FTT, is that if you want to leave at any time, you can and no one will be offended.

One more thing. I spoke to Paula in the tour office and was telling her that many of us felt that the bands were way to loud for the space and the event. I asked her if there was someone to talk to about that. Her suggestion was to fill out a comment card that is available at the information desk. I think those of us who already have hearing loss from years of loud concerts, should take the time to fill out a card. They do read them, maybe it will help.
