http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/2/0/4/6/event_190628262.jpegMany subjects we encounter in photography benefit from getting in close and personal with the camera; flowers, insects, model toys, still life, and so much more. Knowing how to approach a subject for the best effect is key to good close up and macro shots.

PRICE: $20 at the door.

DESCRIPTION: This workshop is designed to teach the basic principles of close up and macro photography. We'll go over lens choice, depth of field, lighting and more. Although we will be working in a controlled environment the techniques you learn can be used out in the field. Beside macro lenses I will also demonstrate how to use extension tubes and bellows. I will also go over how to shoot tethered to a laptop.

WHAT TO BRING:

Essential equipment: Definitely bring a lens that has macro capabilities. If not, bring your telephoto lens--or bring both. If you're not sure, bring them all, we'll sort it out. You will also need a tripod and shutter release cable or remote.

Bring it if you have it: A flash with either a wireless transmitter or off-camera sync cable, anything to get the flash off the camera's shoe mount, is essential. If you have a small portable soft box or small flash diffuser, bring that too. If you have a ring flash bring that too. If all else fails, a small battery powered LED flashlight can be used.

ATTENDANCE: I'm sure this goes without saying, but... These workshops have a very small limited seating. If for any reason you can not attend make sure you remove yourself from the RSVP so that others may take the vacant seat. No shows will be closely monitored in order to be fair to other members.
