"Anna Karenina" & Dinner at RockSugar

*** Update:Purchase ticket on line for row "K".  I am sitting at K12.

*******************************************************************

***Update:

Sorry, ladies, but this movie is released on a limited release this week and won't be playing at The Grove.  We will meet at AMC Century City 15 inside Westfields Century City Mall.  We will meet at 12:30 pm to purchase our movie tickets together.  The schedule is as follows:

12:30 pm - Meet in front of the Movie Theater to purchase our tickets together

12:50 pm - Show time

3:45 pm - Dinner at RockSugar (within the walking distance from the theater)

After the dinner - Snow, Tea & Dessert at The Grove

RockSugar is a beautifully decorated PanAsian Restaurant which serves Americanized Asian Foods - I love the food and the decor.  At 3:45 pm, we will practically have the entire restaurant to ourselves :)  We can have our lively post-movie chat at the restaurant.  After dinner, if anybody is up for it, we will go to the Grove to watch the snow and get some dessert.  It snows at 7 pm and 8 pm.  Whisper Lounge has a great Bread Pudding and Tea - They serve Mighty Tea brand which is my favorite tea :)

*******************************************************************

Anna Karenina is one of the most iconic classic novels in Russian Literature.  It's a story of Anna Karenina, her lover Vronsky, and her brother's childhood friend, Levin.  It's a tragic love story filled with infidelities, jealousy, hypocrisy, faith, passion and social conflicts.  It's over 800 pages long, and I wonder how the director Joe Wright managed to tell the story in little over two hours.  I guess I have to see the movie to find out.

This movie has girls-night-out written all over it.  Even if you have never read the book, I bet you will love watching 19th century Russia filled with beautiful period costumes and interesting characters loving and hating one another with that deep dark Russian passion.

Show times are yet to be announced, but we will plan on watching mid-afternoon (2:30 pmish) showing at The Pacific Theater inside The Grove Mall.  After the movie, we will have an early dinner at Whisper Lounge.  Since the movie is set in Russia, I want to go see snow.  Snow? Where would we be able to see snow in LA?  At The Grove, of course.

It snows at The Grove at 7 pm and 8 pm during the holiday season.  So, after the dinner, we will walk to The Fountain to catch the snow before we head home.  That will be a nice Russian Winter Evening, don't you think?

When the tickets go on sale, I will update you on the exact schedule.

Awesome company. I enjoyed dinner and conversation more than the movie. Costumes were beautiful, but the direction of the movie was not satisfying to me.

If you cannot purchase your ticket via on-line, don't worrry about it and come to the theater. I will change seats if necessary, so we can all sit together. There are only about 8 seats sold so far at 11 pm, the night before. I don't think that the show will be sold out...

Hi Linda and Kim, you can purchase tickets from www.amctheatres.com which gets linked to www.fandango.com I just checked and plenty of seats available and nobody is sitting close to me. Buy a ticket close to K12, so we can all sit together.

I bought the ticket in advance on-line. I am sitting at K12. Please purchase tickets via on-line (you can purchase it thru Westfields Century City Mall website) if you prefer, for row K. I don't think the show will sold out, but you may end up sitting at seats undesirable...

I tried both websites and it stated that "this theatre is not available for on-line ticketing"

Kay - how were you able to do this? I tried, too, and got the same message Linda did.

Please meet me in front of the "Anna Karenina" costume display in a glass case in front of the box office at 12:30 pm. After the movie, meet me again in front of the costume display to walk to the restaurant together.

Thank you, Janet. This weekend, Twilight and Silver Lining Playbook open and there are several other big releases (Skyfall & Lincoln from last weekend), so I did not worry about "Anna Karenina" being sold out at 12:50 pm on Saturday. I have done many movie meet-ups (I organize for a movie group) at this location. Evening shows... maybe will be sold out. So far, no tickets sold for this show time for this show... I will monitor the situation and advise members if we need to purchase tickets in advance, if so, which row... etc...

Hi you probably already know this but this theater does reserved seating. Most people buy their ticket online or at the kiosk outside days before. I mention this because if I don't buy a ticket for a new release the day before it usually fills up. I live next to this theater and go here often. Hope this helps. Enjoy

Sorry about the confusion, but 1) this meet up is being held on Saturday, not on Sunday. 2) this is a movie meet-up and you don't have to read the book. We will talk about the movie, not the book, during dinner.
