So I'm changing up this hike a bit so it will be a more moderate level of hiking. We will start from the main parking lot at Westwood Lake (at the picnic table near the old washroom) and head southward for just over a kilometer till we reach the connector trail to Morell Sanctuary. We will follow the Alder, Maple trails and Fire Road trail returning to the parking lot from where we began. Some climbing for short intervals and some rocky spots but for the most part the trail is a good walk with good footwear recommended. This hike will be about 2 to 3hours or there abouts long and about 8-10 km in distance with some elevation gain.

No dogs I'm afraid.

Westwood Lake is an easily accessible area; if you don't have a car, cycling to the lake is an option, or you can take the #5 Fairview bus which will drop you off just below the Westwood Lake parking lot on Arbot Rd, just check out Nanaimo Regional Transit for more details.
