dues, the long and short of it.

hi all, mark here - the organizer.  thank you all so much for your continued interest in nashville vegans.  with a little work, i know we can all make 2012 the best year ever for our group.  here's just a few things to remember as we head towards the holiday season and a new year.  first, dues are annual, but meetup collects the dues bi-annually.  this is why we've been collecting dues twice a year.  we also starting purging inactive members this year.  this process will continue as we hone in on a more solid core membership.  also, i've just put a screening feature on new members which will require them to pay their dues before i grant full membership.  as of now, the annual dues are $2.  if you haven't paid at least $2 so far in 2011, please do so before october 28th.  failure to do so may result in you losing your co-organizer status and/or being purged from the group completely.  remember, all dues paying nashville vegans are co-organizers.  this group functions as a collective, meaning any co-organizer can schedule a meetup and is indeed responsible for managing that meetup at its outcome.  schedule more meetups!!!  vegan walk in the park?  vegan trip to the mall?  vegan day at the lake?  there is no limit to the number of meetups that can be scheduled in a month, so schedule away.  PLEASE don't ask for our opinion first - just schedule the meetup and be responsible for its planning and outcome.  also, be sure to change the email settings when you schedule a meetup if you don't want to receive a thousand emails!  finally, i will end in saying that meetup does not make it super easy to manage the dues process.  its sort of a cat and mouse email game.  if you wish to remain a member of the group in good standing, just be mindful that as of now we are asking $2/year per member and paying these dues at anytime before the deadline dates in april or october will help create less stress and confusion.  thanks so much for your time and for all that you do - see you at the meetups!  m
