MS 150 Bike to Jack & Back - Hikers on Wheels!

Hikers on Wheels are back for another year!

One of the great summer activities that that the Nashville Hiking Meetup adds to the mix is the great sport of cycling!  Not only do a few of us like to ride a bike, but we focus on is getting involved with the fight to end the debilitating disease of Multiple Sclerosis.

Come join us as part of the Nashville Hiking Meetup's "Hikers on Wheels" team this year's event!  The ride is a two-day event that starts on Friday in Franklin and heads south to Lynchburg.  the event sponsor, Jack Daniels hosts an amazing party up on the hill with a fantastic BBQ dinner and a little Jack to keep the mood light.  We camp out at Motlow State and then return to Franklin on Sunday.  Everything from the event start to the rest stops, the party and especially some great teammates makes this an great end to summer and a kick off to fall!

As a team, we'll have training rides every week and weekend throughout the summer and help everyone get in shape and ready for the ride.  If you're new to cycling, we'll help you get accustomed to riding and teach you the skills you'll need to ride safely.

Are you set and ready to ride?!?  Then come join in on the fun and register here to join the Nashville Hiking Meetup's "Hikers on Wheels" team!

Help Our Team in the Fight Against MS!

The number of people living with multiple sclerosis increases every hour of every day. This astonishing rate is not going to diminish, nor will it stop, until we've found a cure. Research has made some incredible advances recently, but the world can still only offer disease management drugs and therapies to the 400,000 people living with MS in America.

We've formed a team for the MS Bike Tour because we know that riding 150 miles is nowhere near as difficult as confronting a lifetime with multiple sclerosis. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society gives us all reason to hope, though. In addition to supporting novel research projects around the globe, they also provide much needed education, programs, and services to everyone who is affected by MS - including the diagnosed, their friends and families, and the healthcare professionals who work with them.

Join our team as a cyclist or a volunteer! Make a donation online! Send in a check! Talk to your employer about becoming a sponsor of the MS Bike Tour! There are so many ways to make a difference in the fight against MS, and it all begins right here.

Any idea where the Team pics get posted on the MS site?

That's a great question... I've actually never been able to find the team pictures when I've looked for them. I'll try to find that out and let everyone know.

Hey all J&B'ers! Did you know that TEAM NHM has a cycling jersey? We do and we are about to send in the order for the 2013 year. When we ride the J&B this October we ride as a team and that means we have to look the part! Jersey's are $70 and if I may say so, they are very sharp! It takes 6 weeks to get the jerseys produced so we have to turn in our order very soon. There is a separate NHM event where you can see a picture of the jersey, review sizing, and buy one!

In registering, what is our listing? I didn't see Nashville Hikers Meetup, NHM, or Hikers on Wheels? Thank you.

Curious, do you have to have a road bike for this? I love to ride but I make due with my hybrid mountain bike.. Until I hit the lottery or get that check from a prince in Nigeria, that is. What is the average pace?

Very interesting in getting on the bike and doing this! A little unsure about the particulars of the training, packing camping supplies, etc.

I registered for this ride as an individual already, but I would still like to train with your team.

Great! You're more than welcome to train with us... but, do you think we might be able to recruit you join the NHM team? We have fun with the team fundraising and it would be great to have your contribution added in. Either way, it all goes to help fight MS and we welcome your participation!
