Join Nashville Hiking Meetup for a day hike along a little-known and uncrowded scenic area up and along the bluff of this natural area at the Obed Wild and Scenic River.

We will meet at Kroger to carpool and caravan to Lilly Bridge, taking some uncrowded and scenic back roads known only to locals.

Starting at Lilly Bridge, which is also a river access for paddling, we will go .4 miles up to the top of the bluff to the Point Trail which is a there-and-back totaling 3.8 miles to the point where Clear Creek joins the Obed River. Then we head back a short distance to stop for lunch at another overlook on a unique formation of rocks high above the Obed.

We will continue to the Overlook at Lilly Bluff which offers a fantastic view of Clear Creek; return downhill to the Bridge and Parking lot. There is the option of an additional 1 mile trail to rock-climbing area. Time allowing, the return trip will take a short detour to see two additional River Access points further upstream from Lilly Bridge ending up on Tn 62 to Monterey.

Please bring ample water, insect repellent, lunch and snacks. Dress appropriately with suitable footwear. Please be ready to offer your driver money to help pay for gas. A post-hike dinner in Cookeville is optional.
