Date: Sat. Sept. 11
Time: 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm
Distance: 1 1/2 to 2-mile options
Difficulty: Easy, flat, paved greenway
Meeting Place: We will meet at the bridge which crosses the Harpeth River to the greenway next to the Harpeth Youth Soccer Assn. concession stand.
Kids and small dogs welcome. See dog rules below.
Please note: This is a short hike for beginners. If you like long hikes at a brisk pace, please do not show up and act disappointed that this is a slower, shorter hike for beginners. You are certainly welcome to pick up your own pace and circle the loop as many times as you want.
This is an easy 1 1/2 to 2 mile Level 1 beginners hike on a flat, paved greenway next to the Harpeth River. Cross a picturesque bridge and walk beside the river with farms and meadows on the other side. The loop circles a meadow which is scheduled to become future soccer courts, so let's enjoy it while it is still a small field. See photos of the greenway from our August hike. (http://www.meetup.com/nashville-hiking/photos/16997672/)
The loop is .6 miles and the walk to the loop is right under a half mile from the entry gate to the soccer field to the loop. We will walk the loop two or three times with additional loops optional making the hike roughly about 1 1/2 to 2 miles depending on where you park and how many times you circle the loop. Anyone is welcome to sit out any additional loops or make extra loops at your own pace.
Small, leashed dogs are welcome with restrictions below. Please note greenway rules:
Keep dogs on a 6' leash
Scoop the poop.
Leashed dogs are always the law in Nashville, but the HYSA is especially sensitive to loose dogs on the fields and has signs posted about no dogs. DO NOT BRING AN UNLEASHED DOG. If there is activity on the soccer fields, please carry your dog as we walk through the HYSA area until we get to the greenway. Also, if your dog does not get along well with other dogs or humans, do not bring him/her.
The HYSA Soccer Complex is located at
7820 Coley Davis Rd., Nashville, TN 37221
* Sometimes Coley Davis is listed as "Scenic View" on maps *
You are welcome to park at the HYSA lot if the gates are open. Sometimes the gates to the HYSA Soccer Complex parking lot are closed but there is an MTA and recycling station across the road a little further down Coley Davis on the right where we can also park for free.
