Long Hunter State Park shares over 30 miles of shoreline with Percy Priest Lake -- which results in a constant battle to keep the park clean of litter. And the May flooding left behind even more litter and debris than usual. So now park officials and volunteers are slowly but surely trying clean up the most highly impacted areas.
The Volunteer Trail is a one-way, six-mile backpacking trail. We will be working on the front section of the Volunteer Trail and possibly some of the nearby Day Loop Trail. The plan is to remove litter from 9 a.m. until 12 noon. Trash bags will be provided. Please bring water and maybe a snack for a picnic.
No pets, please. Best suited for ages 12 and older.
