Long Hunter Hiking & Camping - Long Hunter State Park

Meeting Time: 12:00 PM (noon)
Meeting Place: Long Hunter State Park office at 2910 Hobson Pike
Hike Distance: Approximately 5 miles
Estimated Hike Time: 2-3 hours
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Hike Leader: Jill Thompson, Friends of Long Hunter State Park

Join the Friends of Long Hunter State Park for this rare opportunity to hike in the park and then camp under the stars in the scenic Group Camp area beside Percy Priest Lake.

This event is limited to 10 people. Participants should meet at the park office at noon on Saturday the 16th. The group will carpool to Bryant Grove Recreation Area and hike the Bryant Grove Trail four miles to Couchville Lake. This flat, easy-to-moderate hike will follow the shores of Percy Priest Lake and wander through hardwood forest and cedar thickets.

Participants will then walk the paved road (less than a mile) to Group Camp 3 to camp overnight. Since vehicles will be parked near the campsite, participants will not need to carry camping gear on the trail. There will be restrooms available but no shower facilities.

Participants should bring camping gear, food, telescopes, musical instruments, games and any other camp-appropriate items.

No pets, please. Kids are welcome.
