Meeting Time: 9:00 AM
Meeting Place: Bryant Grove trailhead in Area 2/Couchville Lake parking lot
Hike Distance: 8 miles
Estimated Event Time: 5 hours
Hike Leader: Long Hunter Seasonal Ranger Nia Davis
This beautiful, meandering path is one of Long Hunter State Park's lesser known trails. The Bryant Grove Trail winds along the shoreline of Percy Priest Lake and features scenic lake views, summer wildflowers, shorebirds, cedar glade habitat, a rustic wooden bridge crossing Bryant Grove Creek, and plenty of wildlife.
This four-mile, one-way loop is perfect for a day trip. We’ll start at the Bryant Grove trailhead in Area 2 to the left of playground. We’ll arrive at Bryant Grove Recreation Area in about two hours. This area features a sandy beach, so feel free to bring your bathing suit and snacks. We’ll then walk the four miles back to our cars at the Couchville Lake area.
Pets are not allowed in this area of the park. Kids are welcome, but please make sure they can handle an eight-mile hike. Don't forget water, sunscreen, insect repellent, and sturdy shoes.
Directions to Bryant Grove Trailhead:
Enter Long Hunter State Park at the main park entrance (2910 Hobson Pike) and then take the first left (which is Area 2) and proceed to the parking lot beside Couchville Lake. The Bryant Grove trailhead is in the corner of the parking lot to the left of the playground.
