Hike the Half for St. Jude Training Series in Brentwood - 1/26/17

Hike distance: 6 miles

Duration: 1 3/4 hrs

Pace: nonstop, moderate to fast

Event Leader:  Cindy Price

Look for us in the pavilion.

Welcome to our training series "Hike the Half for St. Jude".  Once a week we will be training to maintain pace while gradually increasing distance over the next few months to prepare for the Rock and Roll St. Jude half marathon.  Our goal is to maintain a 16 minute per mile pace so as to make the four hour cut off requirement with a little bit of time to spare to cover time lost to crowds, water breaks, etc.  A 16 minute pace is very doable.  YOU can do it!

Note:  You do not have to be registered for the race to enjoy the series with us.  If you are interested in increasing your stamina and fitness level, come join us.  :)

We will do this nonstop hike at a moderate to rapid pace, walking on the paved path along the Little Harpeth River until we get to Crockett Park. We will then walk along various paths within the park before we turn around and return.

Please be aware that the event hosts usually arrive 15 minutes early and that we are waiting for you. If you change your mind and decide not to go, please change your RSVP. The hike begins at 9:00 am but if everyone arrives early we will leave early.

Enjoyed the walk this morning, even though I had to cut it short. Still got in over 4 miles, and I covered the distance back to my car in 5 minutes less than it took us to walk out. I didn't run, but power-walked all the way back.
