Volunteer/Potluck at The Pig Preserve
The Pig Preserve, located in Jamestown, TN, is a pig sanctuary dedicated to caring for pigs from all walks of life. It is exceptional among pig sanctuaries because they try to offer as much freedom and autonomy for their pigs as possible, giving them more space per pig than many other sanctuaries. We are planning a fun trip for volunteers to come help out. We will most likely be working on any repairs, cleaning the farm and feeding the pigs. This is a great opportunity to come and tour the facility, meet the pigs, and help our friends trying to make the world a safer place for piggies! We will be carpooling from Nashville at 8 am CST, and arriving at the Pig Preserve around 10:30 or 11. Carpool meeting location to be determined. If you would rather meet us at the Pig Preserve, it's located at 199 Ike Blevins Jr. Road, Jamestown, TN 38556. We are doing a vegan potluck lunch for this trip. So please bring one of your yummy creations for everyone to enjoy, and be sure all food is vegan. Please be sure to dress appropriately for the task and weather! Rich suggested work gloves, boots, and work clothes that you don't mind getting dirty or torn. We will likely stay at the sanctuary until around 4 or 4:30pm, so we should be back in Nashville around 6:30 or 7pm. Unfortunately, due to the sheer size of the pigs, younger children are not allowed to prevent inadvertent injuries. There isn't a set age limit, but usually 14 years of age and above is fine. Contact Amy for inquiries. Please be aware that this event may be cancelled or rescheduled due to weather conditions, so please be on the lookout! What we're about

This is a group for those who are involved or interested in activities that support animal welfare, rights, rescue and humane education efforts in the Nashville area and beyond. The intent is that we join together over shared interests to become a resource for each other, share challenges and best practices with one another and unite to make a difference in local animal welfare causes, legislation and education. Whether you are immersed in animal rescue/welfare or feel drawn to support those who are committing themselves fully to these efforts, you will be welcomed with open arms into our group. We need your passion, your ideas and your commitment!
