The Nashville ATHENA Award Program Announces
$29,500 in Scholarships For 2013
The Nashville ATHENA Award Program will bestow a total of eight scholarships during the ATHENA award ceremony on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The 2013 scholarships will total $29,500, a 3.5% increase over the 2012 grants.
The scholarships honoring the achievements of women in the greater Nashville metropolitan area are divided into traditional and non-traditional categories. Four Traditional Scholarships will be granted to female students who are graduating from public or private high schools located in Davidson or its contiguous counties. In addition, there will be four Non-Traditional Scholarships presented in the following categories:
ü Two “Return to the Workforce Scholarships” will go to women who are pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree later in life.
ü One “Supporting Technology Scholarship” will be presented to a woman who is currently in the workforce but who has chosen to pursue a degree in science, technology, engineering, or research.
ü One “Supporting Healthcare Scholarship” is for a woman currently in the workforce but who has chosen to pursue a degree in a healthcare-related field.
The 2013 scholarship sponsors are: the ATHENA Alumni Society, First Tennessee Bank, UPS, Emdeon, Women in Technology of Tennessee (WiTT), Saint Thomas Health, State Farm Insurance, and WholeCare Connections Inc.
Completed applications must be uploaded and submitted online by December 7, 2012. Applications, rules and general information about the ATHENA scholarship process are posted on the ATHENA website at www.NashvilleATHENAAwards.org.
