What are you hoping to get out of this group?

Learn more about the grape in a fun atmosphere.

As far as wine knowledge, do you consider yourself a newbie, a casual drinker, an afficionado, expert or something else?

Somewhere between afficionado and expert. Those who call me an expert ........ don't know me well enough!

Do you have a favorite wine, varietal, region, etc?

Big California Cabernet Sauvignons with a few years in the cellar. Jordan 2007 is readily available locally and so easy to get and fantastic to enjoy with friends. The old Bordeaux blends are great when stored right. But oftentimes, they are not. Super Tuscan blends have popped up over the last few years and are tasty.

What's your favorite wine shop around town? Why?

Frugal MacDougals' in Nashville. They have an incredible breadth of wines available. The room in the back with the velvet rope contains some of my favorites.

An oenophile for many years. At times I explore old, big cellared reds from Napa Valley and other time lighter, French Burgundies. The occasional oaky Chardonnay still manages to bring a smile to my face.
