Greetings, YA-ers! This will be our second session of the month for feedback discussions on our work. We do it a little differently than other meetup groups. At the beginning of the month, we'll post our work (minimum one chapter each) on our online YA group forum. We'll each read and have critique ready for when we meet in person on the last Saturday monthly critique session. I left the time open ended depending on how our feedback goes.

***It is imperative that you read the groups posted work before attending this session in order to give valuable feedback***

About the YA Fiction Writers Group:

This group is focused on writers interested in the Young Adult fiction genre. "Young adult" target audiences typically range from the ages of sixteen years up to the age of twenty-five. In recent years, this market has skyrocketed with the success of bestselling novels such as the Twilight series from Stephenie Meyer, The Hunger Games from Suzanne Collins, and The Mortal Instruments from Cassandra Clare to name a few.

Since this genre is marketed toward the teenaged crowd, there are specific guidelines to consider when writing Young Adult fiction as opposed to more adult focused literature. With this in mind, the focus of our sessions will be to brainstorm the Y/A novel writing process and share ideas for getting started, organizing, character development, story flow, inspiration sparking, editing and formatting, and steps to getting published. There will also be time set aside to discuss our previously posted work to the group (limit of one to two chapters each per session) and collect valuable feedback.

To keep the creativity flowing, email interaction will be encouraged (but not required) among the group. This can include links to articles, info on what’s trending in Y/A, or if you just need some inspiration or help getting over writer’s block.

If your goal is to pursue a financially successful career path with the intentions of creating a marketable novel(s) for publishing, come join us!
