YA-NA Fiction Writers Chat Session: Building Your Social Media Platform

Greetings, YANAs! In this chat session, we'll discuss how to use social media to our advantage as writers. Join us to share tips on the best utilization for Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.

***About the YA-NA Fiction Writers Group***

This group is focused on writers interested in the Young Adult/New Adult fiction genres.

"Young Adult" target audiences typically range from the ages of 14-17. In recent years, this market has skyrocketed with the success of bestselling novels such as the Twilight saga from Stephenie Meyer, The Hunger Games series from Suzanne Collins, and The Mortal Instruments series from Cassandra Clare.

"New Adult" is a hot new genre that targets the age range of 18-24. This is the age when the young adults leave high school and enter the college years and start thinking about the future and what kind of an impact their present actions will have on it. NA stories tend to have more romance heavy and deal with more intense topics than YA.

The focus of our sessions will be to brainstorm the YA/NA novel writing process and share ideas for getting started, organizing, character development, story flow, inspiration sparking, editing and formatting, and steps to getting published.

There are TWO PARTS to this group. The first part is our chat session that is held on the second Saturday of the month and consists of a single predetermined topic posted in advance. Anyone is welcome to attend but keep in mind the topics will be YA/NA FICTION based only.

The second part of this group is for those members who want to share their work for feedback. The feedback forum consists of critique of member’s work posted to our group’s Google group.

***Feedback Group Forum Rules***

You MUST attend an actual in person chat session before access is granted by the host upon request. This is to determine if this part of the group is the right fit for you.

List the TITLE, SUB-GENRE, and WORD and/or PAGE COUNT in the title section of your Google post. (Ex=Twilight-YA Paranormal: Chapter 1 (2500 words/10 pages)

A limit of 5 chapters posted in one month per participating member. Critiquing someone else's work can be time consuming and take away from someone completing their own projects. (Unless you and another member decide to do your own feedback outside of this group)

Please indicate the TYPE OF FEEDBACK you are looking in the body of your post  so the interested critiquer is aware of how much time will be nvolved.

NOTE: The YANA Fiction Writer's group strives to maintain a creative and honest environment of writers with the same goals in mind. Like anything you choose to put out there on the internet or share with others, you do so at your own risk. YANA Fiction Writer's group or Nashville Writer's Group is not responsible for stolen work or ideas, but those who abuse their privileges or display dishonest behavior will be removed and banned from the group.

Oops. I just saw it was a tailored group for Young Adult novelists (I thought Ya-Na was just a nickname). Have fun with the meeting! I'm at the cafe, but I am not writing in that genre.

Michele, what time are you getting there tomorrow? I'll probably arrive early so I can get a parking space. I really don't want to have to pay to park. Boo!

Probably by 1245. There's free parking on the street. I rarely ever use the paid lot
