This is a joint event hosted by Rock Creek Conservancy and the National Park Service to celebrate the Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend of Service. You MUST register for this event:
From Rock Creek conservancy website:
We will be cleaning up trash from one of our "mini-oases", Carter Barron.
In 2020, the Conservancy is focusing its restoration efforts on five "mini-oases" in Rock Creek Park in addition to the normal volunteer locations throughout the Rock Creek Watershed. These areas have been strategically chosen because they are important to the health of Rock Creek and they are important to the communities that live near them.
Trash is one of the biggest threats to this urban park. We invite you to join Rock Creek Conservancy to help restore this "mini-oasis”. We hope to see you there!
Meet beside the Brightwood Recreation Area by the entrance of the Rock Creek Park Tennis Center. Closest address (4850 Colorado Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20011) will take you to the south entrance of Carter Barron. Parking is available in the lots. Volunteers are encouraged to carpool, bike, or use public transportation.
