After Thanksgiving Singles hike

After Thanksgiving Singles hike
Friday, November 28,[masked]:00 AM 2008
Cleveland Park metro station
3527 Connecticut Ave NW
Washington, DC, 20008

Come explore Rock Creek Park with single Nature Lovers. If you are interested in meeting ecologically minded singles who like to hike, meet at the Cleveland Park metro station, in front of Magruder's Grocery (3527 Connecticut Avenue NW), at 9:00 AM for a moderate six-mile hike and post-hike lunch (around 1pm) in one of the many excellent restaurants in Cleveland Park.

We'll be hiking on the Melvin Hazen, Valley and Western Ridge Trails. Sights include the Pierce Mill, Fish ladder, Pulpit Rock, Boulder Bridge, Fort Derussy and Klingle Mansion. Hike includes several short climbs in rocky sections of the park and you will need to be in decent physical shape. You will be able to burn off some of those thanksgiving calories. Bring a leftover as a snack to eat along the way, if you wish. Water and restroom are available near Pierce mill, but bringing a water bottle is recommended. Please dress appropriately for the weather, preferably in layers. Hike will go on unless severe weather is forecast. In case of light rain, please bring a raincoat or poncho.

The hike will start shortly after 9 am. Please make sure you are on time. Cell-phone number will be given if I can find someone to volunteer one, closer to the hike date. Metro is recommended but if you must drive you might be able to find parking in the surrounding streets.

Part of this hike is described in Hike no. 10 of Paul Elliott's "60 hikes within 60 miles (of DC)."

Standard disclaimer: while this event requires no experience, participants must be aware that any outdoor activity carries risks and their safety is their own responsibility.
