Moonlit hike on mall and heads up on upcoming picnic

Hi everyone, You are all welcome to join the Sierra club organized Moonlit Hike on the Mall on friday, April 10, starting at 7.30 pm. If you want to meet a little early and check out the cherry blossoms let me know. We could go for drinks after the hike.

[See below for info about upcoming picnic on May 2]

This will be the only email you will get about this hike:

Explore the beauty of DC's Mall and monuments by the full moon. Meet at 7:30 pm on the mall side of Constitution Ave. halfway between 15th St. and 17th St. You might be able to park on Constitution Ave. NW 1600 block (Note: 16th st stops at H st). Nearest Metro is Federal Triangle. Bring water. Kids who can walk 7+ mi. (or 3 mi.) on relatively level terrain are most welcome.

This is a Sierra Club event led by experienced hike leader, scientist and cheerful raconteur Jim Finucaine. For more info check out Sierra club outings.

Suggested donation of $2 will be used for sierra club outings related expenses only. Donation is only a suggestion.

I also want to give you a heads up about the upcoming picnic in Rock creek park on May 2. Hope everyone can participate. This event can be a success only with your participation and support. I am still finalizing the details but it would be great if people can pitch in with suggestions or offers to help out. I am thinking we could have a bit of frisbee or soccer going, some music, and of course lots of food (unfortunately for beer lovers amongst you, Park service does not allow alcohol). So if you can help out with any of these or have suggestions for other activities please do let me know as soon as possible. I have booked picnic grove #9 (about a mile north of Military Rd) from 10 am to 6pm. The picnic is from 10 to 1pm and other activities afterwards.

Hope to see you soon,
