Cranbrook Observatory and Planetarium Visit - Nerdy Queer Club

Details
Yay space!! Haven't you always wanted to check out a real life observatory? Now is your chance! We'll see a live planetarium presentation called, "Michigan Sky Tonight" so we know what's going on in the sky. Then we'll head over to the observatory to take a look ourselves. If it's raining, the observatory roof won't be open, but it will still be a good time!
When:
We’ll start meeting at 7:00 by the t-rex at the start of the museum. Look for person holding the rainbow umbrella (not open tho, since we’ll be inside). We’ll start walking around the museum soon after, then head to the planetarium, then the observatory.
Admission:
Attendees will need to purchase admission on their own at the entrance. Admission is discounted on Friday nights! It's $5 for admission, plus an additional $5 for the planetarium show at 8:00. Be sure to ask for both tickets at the entrance!
Accessibility:
- Accessible entrances, though I'm not positive on the observatory room specifically (its rather tiny and I remember there being some stairs)
- Typically mild volume levels, with quiet spaces available
- Typically not crowded
- Not sure if there are gender neutral restrooms
- You can bring in your own food (though may not be able to eat in certain spaces)
- Mostly indoors
- I couldn't find a ton of details on accessibility on their website. If you have other questions, please feel free to reach out to me and I will do everything I can to get answers.
To ensure everyone has a positive experience, all attendees agree to follow all laws, event location policies, and group rules:
- Look out for your safety and the people around you. Like, don’t climb on stuff even if it looks really fun. Don’t accidentally out someone. Stay home if you are sick.
- Be respectful and support an inclusive space for people of all genders, races, disabilities, etc. Refer to people with the correct names, pronouns, and language. Don’t assume, just ask!
- Be over the age of 18. For some events (INCLUDING THIS ONE), parents with young children will be welcome to bring their kiddos as guests, but they must provide constant supervision and ensure all rules are followed. Check each individual event page for more information.
- Not hold event organizers liable in the unfortunate case of injuries, illness, lost or stolen items, or other harm.
