London Net Tuesday June - Social by Social Game

The June event looks to be quite fun! Charity Technology Trust are hosting us again at 1 London Bridge, and JustGiving are going to sponsor drinks and nibbles! Plus, we have a fun topic: the Social by Social Game! The Social by Social game is a fun session to help people explore how social technology can be used for social benefit: whether that's by a nonprofit, a social innovation startup, within a neighbourhood, or across a community. We'll invent some of those places, then challenge each other in groups to develop plans using a pack of specially-developed cards and other props. It will be a mix of collaboration and competition that should give you lots of practical ideas that you can use in your own projects.
Here's how a version of the game ran at SHINE09. David Wilcox and Andy Gibson (and I) will facilitate the game for the Net Tuesday group, and I promise it'll be fun! Really looking forward to seeing you all 2 June for a fun game, and a chance to discuss new ways of using technology to help our communities.

Considering that this is only the second outing of the prototype SxS "game", I thought it went quite well. The game will work better if better contextualised; the hypothetical context we worked with caused some problems because it was artificial, but that couldn't be helped!

Super great - extremely valuable game to understand the tools available and as importantly that how they are used and the likely cost. Really showed that things have to be thought through.

I liked the game very much and would like to use it myself at some point in the future. I think the only problem we had when getting into the game was not having a sufficiently detailed scenario to work from, and hence our engagement tools and technology tools were a bit abstract and disconnected. Howevere, it was a good way of getting conversations started.

I learned how to use mixed computer based social processes to support a new venture.
