Louisiana AU Hosts Professor Dominique G. Homberger - "Why Evolution is Neither a Political Issue Nor a Religious Issue"

Thursday, March 15

Unitarian Church
8470 Goodwood Blvd.
Baton Rouge

In honor of Darwin Day the Louisiana Chapter is proud to be hosting Dr. Dominique Hormberger, from the LSU Department of Zoology, who will discuss why evolution is neither a political issue nor a religious issue.

Professor Homberger's research program is firmly rooted in comparative anatomy as an experimental science that creates natural experiments to answer specific questions. Her lab is working on a variety of vertebrate model species from lampreys to sharks, salamanders, alligators, birds, and mammals to human beings.

She is particularly interested in the integration of individual structures and organs into mechanically coherent complex systems of interactive parts. This aspect of her research is particularly relevant to the problem of how a complex system is able to evolve without disrupting its integrity.

You won't want to miss her presentation! Questions, or to RSVP contact Thomas J. Hannie, Jr, chapter president, at
