Shibari Learning Group (All Levels)

Details

The purpose of this group is to make a space available for people to learn Shibari (or rope-tying) with little to no barrier of entry. I am fortunate enough to have regular access to such a space. As such, I would like to make it available to others so that we all may benefit and learn.

My hope is to meet weekly to practice together a tie and to focus mainly on the technical aspects of rope-tying. Though we will of course follow strict guidelines regarding safety and consent, other aspects of rope-tying and rope-play (connection, intimacy, dynamics of play) will not be the primary focus of this meetup. In fact, I'm more so hoping to create an environment that isn't focused on play at all, but simply on learning ties.

Though I have some basic knowledge of rope-tying, which I learned mostly from some of the great teachers here in Berlin, I myself am not a teacher and will not be giving formal instruction. I am happy to share the little I do know; peer-to-peer learning is encouraged.

Each meetup there will be a primary tie upon which we are working -- guidance will be provided via video from the Shibari Study platform. If there's consistent attendance from a regular group of people, then we can vote on which tie to focus on next. After focusing on the primary tie for a bit, participants can move on to practicing whatever they are interested in that week.

**I recognize that some might want to attend but might not be comfortable sharing their name publicly on an attendance list. If this is you, then feel free to send a private message and I will save a space for you in the meetup.**

Other information:

I do not currently have rope to share, please bring at least one 7-8 meter length of rope. 2-3 lengths would be preferred. I will be on the lookout for rope donations.

Solo or Partnered, but it'll be better to bring somebody along with you.

We'll only be learning so-called floor-work, there are no suspension points available.

Meetups will last a minimum of two hours, depending on the mood we could go longer.

A contribution of 2-5 Euros/session is encouraged. This is put towards the holding and maintenance of the space and potential purchases for the group. If you cannot make a contribution, no worries -- I don't want money to be a barrier to entry for learning Shibari.
