The Dharma of Difference: Awakening in Diverse Community
So, here we are in NYC. With people we know and people we don't know. People we like, people we don't like -- and people we don't even notice. People we share backgrounds and interests with. People with whom we have almost nothing in common. All of us. Together.
The teachings of the historical Buddha offer practices which can be applied to our social interactions. In fact, working with our differences and understanding our confusion helps to remove obstacles to living together harmoniously, and offers an opportunity to grow in wisdom and compassion.
Join us on 5/29 as we explore identity. By using the Buddhist framework as well as contemporary models of healthy self-esteem, we'll examine how identity can imprison us as well as how it can help move us toward liberation.
This event is offered on a donation basis to support our teachers and other initiatives offered by The Interdependence Project. More details available here: http://www.theidproject.org/events/2013/05/29/buddhist-studies-dharma-difference
