This month, we'll have a fantastic two-part presentation from Rob Blackwood (https://twitter.com/robertblackwood) (iOS developer) and Raul Gutierrez (https://twitter.com/themexican) (founder) of Tinybop.
Tinybop (http://tinybop.com) makes educational iOS apps for kids that encourage learning through exploration. Their first app, The Human Body, invites curious kids to poke and prod at body's bones, veins, nerves, and guts as it responds with physics, animation and sound. The Human Body's gorgeous artwork and playful open-ended approach have been well recieved by kids and parents, and the app has been featured extensively by Apple in the App Store.
Rob will talk about some of the dev challenges and solutions he's encountered in building The Human Body, which makes inspired use of Cocos2D and OpenGL to simulate the various organic systems of the body. Raul will present some thoughts on what it takes to launch an app and compete successfully in today's App Store, with some behind the scenes stats and stories.
Whether you're interested in modeling the physics of chewed-up pizza, or looking for tips on orchestrating your own app launch, there should be something for you in this presentation.
Please note the new RSVP policy: If you have a Going RSVP, you'll be guaranteed admission until 6:55 p.m., at which point both Going and Waiting List RSVPs will be admitted until the space is at capacity.
