"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." — 1 Corinthians 13:12, KJV
Expressive Writing is one of the most effective ways of transforming trauma into creative drama, to safely deal with shadows in the containment of narrative storytelling when journaling our truth inside fiction, and to validate our experiences while validating other people's experiences.
There are three parts to the Mirror Darkly:
Part I: "now I know in part"—Deep listening for kindred resonances to become activated in the subconscious
Part II: "but then shall I know"—Journal 15 minutes distraction free
Part III: "even as also I am known" — Share & Resonate-edit
Each workshop is different because the people who come into the session offer a unique imprint to the dynamic of each group. No one workshop is ever the same although our format is consistent.
Our workshops are facilitated by highly skilled creative writers and compassionate mentors who have extensive experience when it comes to holding space for other people's breaking open process.
A Journal-Artist is someone tasked to investigate one's own life experiences through narrative storytelling, and in the process of investigating, we hold ourselves accountable to the discipline of love defined. A Journal-Artist's aim is reflect the scenes of our past and to extract the lessons, the silver linings, and discover the opportunities for the character and story arc while we expressively write, one journal-entry at a time. The Journal-Artist is responsible for telling one's own life story through a series of journal entries. While telling it as we go, our aim is to transform our tragedy into divine comedy, by shifting our perspectives in the process. The entire journal of a journal-artist to arc the hero's character thereby arching the story we call "The Love Story."
This is a place, space, and grace filled with tolerance, inclusion, agape love, patience, and kindness for our kindred Journal-Artists. Each of us are all processing our pain to purpose journey individually and collectively. We believe the Universe works in paradoxes; Though we are all unique, with our individual journey to take, with our individual destiny to make, with our mistakes and stakes to face, we all have one constant Way or Dao to aim for when we proceed from point A to point B. This Way is universal and constant, despite all other things changing, evolving, and manifesting, and we believe that this Way is Love defined in 1 Corinthians 13.
