The pack I usually carry is a (brand/model)?

Everything I own is REI brand. I pack light usually 25 pounds with food, and water for four days. But I share so much with my husband Dave its what makes a trip a little lighter.

I enjoy backpacking because?

The freedom that comes from exploring amazing places that my own two feet can take me. We have everything we need to keep us safe and happy on our backs. It is such an exhilarating feeling to be so independent from city life and see these places most office people would only see in an art gallery.

I consider myself a (beginner, intermediate or advanced) backpacker?

Skill sets for backpacking is advanced. Physical fitness advanced beginner in May June and intermediate in July and August - we go out alot since we are retired! But what you really want to hear is that I hike one mile an hour plus another hour for every 1,000 feet max 2,000 daily climb. On an average rocky trail. Consider myself a slow hiker, short legs, small stride and a camara in my hand ! My 8-10 hour a day trip gives me about 6-8 miles or so here.

My favorite place to backpack & hike in NM is?

Visited many places in NM but did not backpack any of them. I want to stay in touch with the group since I have attended trips as far as Arizona for backpacking, specially when the snow takes a while to melt here in Colorado.

My favorite piece of gear is?
